Our Lord revealed that wherever the image of His Sacred Heart is exposed and given special honor, great blessings and graces would abound. One way to accomplish this goal is to do a formal enthronement of the Sacred Heart in your home. The enthronement is a ceremony where Jesus is invited into your home and is given authority over your family/household.

On the date of the enthronement, if possible, the family attends Mass as an act of love and reparation on the day of the enthronement and is encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  A beautiful blessed picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary is procured (the Legion also has plaques available) and a place of honor or “throne” is prepared in the home representing an altar in the home.  A Bible, and optionally candles, will also be needed for the ceremony.

The steps in the ceremony are:

1. an opening hymn (optional)
2. a brief introduction on the meaning of the Enthronement
3. a reading from scipture
4. intercessions on behalf of the family
5. the placement of the image of the Sacred Heart and the Bible in the place of honor
6. the recitation of the Apostles’ Creed
7. the Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart
8. a closing prayer
9. a closing hymn (optional)

In the days following the ceremony, it is the hope that the family renews its covenant regularly, typically at the dinner table, and spends time as a family before the image of the Sacred Heart.
